The adventure begins!

Depart from one of these locations near you: Cedar Rapids, Decorah, Des Moines, Ft Dodge, Rochester, or Waterloo

Overnight stay in Mishawaka, IN

Tuesday, May 1 (B,D)

Pass through the rolling hills and forests of Pennsylvania

Arrive in Gettysburg, where we'll stay for the night

Dinner tonight is at the Farnsworth House

Wednesday, May 2 (B)

Tour the Gettysburg Battlefield with a National Parks Service guide

Stop by the Gettysburg Visitor's Center and Cyclorama, a 377' by 42' breathtaking canvas painting depicting the battle.

Take a couple hours to grab lunch and explore Gettysburg on your own

Continue to Washington D.C.

Check into our Old Town Alexandria hotel, home for the next five nights

Night-time tour of the memorials

Return to D.C. for a daytime visit to the memorials

Free time to explore the Smithsonian museums, National Archives Museum, and Holocaust Museum (if tickets are available)

Stop at the Marine Corps War Memorial

Head to Arlington National Cemetery and experience the Changing of the Guard Ceremony

Return to Old Town for lunch and some time on your own

Visit the Petersen House, where Lincoln was cared for and eventually died following the shooting at Ford's Theatre (located across the street)

Dinner at Gordon Biersch

Attend an evening performance at Ford's Theatre
