Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
  1. 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  2. 1/2 cup of (softened) margarine
  3. 1 cup (1/2 pint) buttermilk
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 6 Tablespoons cocoa
  6. 2 cups of flour
  7. 1 teaspoon of soda
  8. 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
  1. Mix 1 1/2 cups of sugar, 1/2 cup of softened margarine, 1 cup of buttermilk, 2 eggs, and 6 Tablespoons of cocoa. Slowly add in the 2 cups of flour. Add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to 1 cup of boiling water and mix into the first mixture. Pour batter into greased cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pan so they come out easier when you are ready to frost them.

Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients
  1. 1/3 cup softened butter
  2. 3 3/4 powdered sugar
  3. 1/4 cup milk
  4. 1 teaspoon vanilla
  5. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  6. 1/4 cup cocoa powder
Instructions
  1. In a mixer blend 1/3 cup of softened butter, 3 3/4 of powdered sugar, 1/4 cup of milk, 1 tsp. of vanilla, 1/4 tsp. of salt, and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder until smooth. Add a little more milk if the frosting is too thick.
