Cherry Bars

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup butter
  2. 1 3/4 cup sugar
  3. 4 eggs
  4. 1 tsp. vanilla
  5. 3 cups flour
  6. 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  7. 1/2 tsp. salt
  8. 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Soften butter in a bowl and mix in the sugar, eggs, vanilla, flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. Spread it into a 11x15 greased jelly roll pan or a shallow baking pan.
  4. Use a spoon to put 1 can (21 oz) of cherry pie filling on top of the batter.
  5. Bake for 40 min.
  6. After baking, drizzle your cherry bars with powdered sugar frosting while the bars are still hot (see frosting instructions below).

Powdered Sugar Frosting

Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cup milk
  2. 1 tablespoon butter
  3. 1 tsp. vanilla
  4. 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine the butter, milk and vanilla in a pan on the stove and heat it until the butter is melted. You want to heat up the liquid so you will have a smoother frosting.
  2. In a bowl place 2 cups of powdered sugar and add the warm liquid to the powdered sugar one teaspoon at a time.
  3. This recipe makes quite a bit of frosting so you may have some left over.
