Cherry Bars

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 3/4 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
- Soften butter in a bowl and mix in the sugar, eggs, vanilla, flour, baking powder and salt.
- Spread it into a 11x15 greased jelly roll pan or a shallow baking pan.
- Use a spoon to put 1 can (21 oz) of cherry pie filling on top of the batter.
- Bake for 40 min.
- After baking, drizzle your cherry bars with powdered sugar frosting while the bars are still hot (see frosting instructions below).
Powdered Sugar Frosting
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Combine the butter, milk and vanilla in a pan on the stove and heat it until the butter is melted. You want to heat up the liquid so you will have a smoother frosting.
- In a bowl place 2 cups of powdered sugar and add the warm liquid to the powdered sugar one teaspoon at a time.
- This recipe makes quite a bit of frosting so you may have some left over.
