The following statement may be attributed to Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation President Kevin Paap regarding the appointment of Thom Petersen as Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commissioner.
“We look forward to working with Thom Petersen in his new role as Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. Farm Bureau has always appreciated his ability to work together to find solutions to help Minnesota’s farmers and ranchers,” said Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) President Kevin Paap. “His knowledge of Minnesota agriculture and familiarity of all involved from farmers and ranchers to processors will be helpful.”
“As a long-time advocate for a general farm organization, he is familiar with the many issues facing agriculture in Minnesota from health care to environmental regulations and has worked hands on with contentious issues like ditch mowing and buffers,” said MFBF President Paap. “His experience in working with the legislative process should serve agriculture and the Governor well.”
